Monkey no workie, Monkey only play.

Although I'm sure you earn your fair amout of street fare for the performance art - not just any zoo animal could balance on a melon with an ostrich egg on it's head.

At the moment, I'm a monkey, for I feel that I lost my brain.

But I'm really working as a graphic artist for a sign company.

I just thought about it, is that really any different?

Unhappy

I used to be a virtual reality and multimedia developer... but I've been unemployed for 2 1/2 years now. But no worries! I continually hear from this administration that they're creating all sorts of jobs! ... ... Despite the fact they still support outsourcing... ... And the fact my state's unemployment rate is back up over 7 percent again... ... And the fact that the new jobs they're making are in low paying, manual labor, health care, construction, or manufacturing positions... ...

But no worries! I'm sure I'll snap up a new position in the tech industry any day now! Or perhaps, decade would be a better term...

(Hehe... word of advice for the youngsters- if you're getting into the tech industry in computer software development unless you're heading to CA or TX, I'd recommend a career change before you start- at least in the midwest, you'll find little to no work. No work being the emphasis. )

(edit: fixing a tpyo... er, tyop... whatever )

I agree with ya Druidblue, in Iowa the IT field is Flooded...I am in Shared IT, in the DataCenter Operations. Ok, job, odd hours, but it works...other than that, there is not much here for IT.

I'm currently Tier 4 in the Mediacom NOC in Des Moines, which is brand new for this company, and from what we're hearing, Iowa is going to be where several companies are going to be building for the tech industry.

I work as a thug for a utility. It's my job to persuade 150,000 customers that they would rather have water than money.

Since I am the only one that does collectiions at my company, coupled with a union card, means I spend a good portion of my day cruising the interweb.

I'm unemployed... looking for work. Unfortunately, the chemical industry (I've got my degree in Chem. Engineering but no certs. ) is pretty much at an all time low of available jobs at the moment. I'm thinking of going to Home Depot or some such...

Systems Administrator for a large insurance brokerage ... and I gotta sound off and agree with most of the other people here ... IT is a real pain to go far with unless you get a REALLY lucky break ... I've had all kinds of people who work first and second level Help Desk keep asking me how to break through to the next level ... and it's all timing and good fortune ...
